Never Give Up!

Posted on Sep 19th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism

So many people who have set out to achieve the body of their dreams give up before they reach their goal.  Even worse many more give up once they have reached their goal.  For them reaching their goal weight or achieving their desired physique was like a vacation to a far away place.  A couple of months later all they had was a few pictures and some memories.

Fitness is not a destination, it is a never ending journey.  As a matter of fact it's an adventure full of pitfalls and challenges.  One day you're doing great, you're following your plan, you're eating like you should, you are getting your exercise.  The next day you run into temptation.  It's so and so's birthday at the office and there's cake and ice cream.  You didn't just have a little bit, you had seconds and a few hours after that you raided the snack machine, and what the hell - you were on a roll - so that night you had pizza and beer.  This is real life, you are going to have days like that.  The important thing is you can't use one bad day or even two as an excuse to quit.  "Oh, I don't have the discipline to do this, I'm just going to go back to my old eating habits."  Don't give up.  Get back on track.  Do a little more exercise over the next couple of days and eat a little less and you can still keep making progress.  Then get back to your plan.

The temptations are always going to be there.  So it's very important to have the tools to be able to get past them.  Learn how to control your cravings & learn how to use NLP to reassociate triggers to healthier actions.  Read the magnetic diet to find out how.

The Importance of Discipline

Posted on Sep 17th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism

How important is discipline to consistent and permanent weight loss? I think we all know the answer to that one: VERY!

Consistent and permanent weight weight loss depends upon you having enough discipline to at least take the simple steps that are required each and every day.

Are those steps difficult? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Most people think that they are not able to do what it takes to achieve the body of their dreams. They envision hours at the gym and difficult deprivation diets that are impossible to stick with. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The truth is that the simple steps to take to achieve consistent and permanent weight loss are actually easy. The hardest part about them in most cases is remembering to do them which is why I spend so much time in the Magnetic Diet covering the NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) techniques that will help to rewire your brain so that you automatically take those actions without having to think about them.

NLP was developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder who modeled the techniques of Milton Erickson who was the worlds greatest clinical hypnotist. Erickson was able to completely hypnotize people just by having a conversation with them. Imagine coming into this man's office with a phobia such as the fear of flying and leaving without it just by having a conversation. With NLP changes can be quickly made to the way the brain associates certain triggers to actions. So using the techniques of NLP you can reprogram your mind so that you associate the thought of eating candy to the action of drinking a glass of water. Or the desire to watch TV to the action of going on a walk.

Listen just as advances have been made in electronics technology that allow you to read this page from your home advances have also been made in the technology of how we can use our minds. Learn how to utilize this technology so you can improve your appearance and your health. Order the Magnetic Diet weight loss program where you will learn how to use NLP to associate the simple synergistic actions that will allow you to achieve consistent and permanent weight loss.

Daily OM 9/5

Posted on Sep 5th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism
I am reposting this bulletin I received from my myspace friend OM PEACE:

All motive and action affects the cosmos in some way. The principle of cause and effect is the truth that allows us to change ourselves and the world around us for the better. However, this same universal law is also at work when change is not at the forefront of our minds. Our intentions flow forever outward in the form of energy, affecting both the people closest to us and billions of individuals we will likely never meet. For this reason, we should strive always to speak, think, and behave with great thoughtfulness and compassion. The virtues we choose to embody can inspire joy and integrity in the lives of countless people, whether we touch their existence directly or not.

The influence we wield is infinite. In an effort to internalize our conscious understanding of the nature of cause and effect, we can never truly know how our thoughts, emotions, words, or actions will manifest themselves on the larger universal stage because it is likely that the furthest-reaching effects will fall outside the range of our perception. We can only look to the guidance of our conscience, which will help us determine whether each of our choices is contributing to humanity's illumination or setting the stage for unintended troubles. When we are in doubt, we need only remember that the cultivation of altruism inevitably leads to a harvest of goodwill and grace. Motivated by a sincere desire to spread goodness, we will be naturally drawn to those choices that will help us express our commitment to universal well-being.

Nothing you do, however minor or mundane, is ever exempt from the rules of cause and effect. From the moment of your birth, you have served as an agent of change, setting forces beyond your comprehension into motion across the surface of the earth and beyond. You can exert conscious control over this transformative energy simply by examining your intentions and endeavoring always to promote peace, positive energy, and passion in your ideas and actions. While you may never fully comprehend the extent of your purposefully heartfelt influence, you can rest assured that it will be universally felt.

Hey that was my idea...

Posted on Aug 4th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism
In the magnetic diet I included some Kanji characters that I encouraged readers to cut out and tape on their water bottles as a means to leverage the concept of the consciousness of water as expounded by Dr. Esoro Emoto.

Here is a product from the bleep store  with the same idea.  You know what they say, "great minds think alike".

It happens quick...

Posted on Aug 1st, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism

When I changed my daughter's diapers I knew the day would come when they would become teenagers and and I would be facing the challenges that every father of a teenage daughter faces.  But it seems as if I were only changing diapers yesterday and today I have a 12 year old who is mad at me because I won't let her go to the street fair with the boy she has a crush on.  When I delivered that particular bit of bad news yesterday at the dinner table I also included the caveat that there would be no one-on-one dating until at least high school and even then it would be reevaluated based on the situation.  She escaped to her room at that point and all communication since then has been through text messages.  What an interesting world we live in where a father talks to his daughter by typing on a phone.  What an excellent opportunity to bring some awareness into my path as a parent.

Here's me putting her on a plane to Chicago to visit my sister, her first solo flight.

The Guru Comes To Town.

Posted on Jul 27th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism
For the past several weeks I have traded my morning meditation for a brisk walk in an attempt to strip the a few more pounds of fat from my body.  When the awareness was there I also used the walk as an opportunity to observe the mind in action.  I can tell you that this can not replace seated meditation, at least at my level, as there are too many opportunities for distraction.  So moving forward I am making a commitment to wake up earlier for meditation prior to the walk.  A timely commitment, as my meditation teacher, has arrived from India for his annual summer tour of the west coast. I was introduced to Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath two years ago and initiated into Kriya Yoga by him.  Of him I will say this, if you have an opportunity to be in his presence, take it.  He is the real deal. Here is a taste.

The clouds

Posted on Jul 17th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism
After my morning walk I took notice of the clouds.  I only stopped for a moment to stare at the sky, but the absolute beauty of the clouds made that moment............perfect.

Today I will strive to notice the perfection of each moment.

Why all this concern with the body?

Posted on Jul 15th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism

Those who have read the Magnetic Diet will know that meditation is a core concept. Those who have a lot of experience with meditation will wonder. Why all this concern about the body?

Here's the thing. If we are meditating every day, then we know that the body is not the reality. The soul is the reality. Our individual soul is just a wave in the ocean that is God. What does this have to do with weight loss and health management?

Our purpose on this earth is to work out the Karma of our past actions and desires. This only leads to more Karma which then just brings us back again. We can escape the revolving door by merging our wave into the ocean, but to do that requires the awakening of a dormant energy. To awaken that energy requires a lot of work, some of which is spiritual, some of which is mental, and some of which is physical. The physical portion is mainly to create the foundation on which the spiritual and the mental portion can be built. The mental and the spiritual portion are tied closely together.  The mental aspect is concentration which leads to the core spiritual aspect which is meditation. The physical is necessary so that one can sit still in a position long enough to concentrate and meditate.

The asanas or physical postures of yoga, as a matter of fact the entire physical and aspect of yoga that includes body purification techniques, was developed so that the aspirant could get his or her body into shape to meditate for long hours. So there you have it, good physical conditioning is a benefit to spiritual aspirations.

Shoes make the man

Posted on Jul 15th, 2007 by FoodMagnetism : The Magnetic Dietician FoodMagnetism
I started to run into problems with my feet running track in high school. I was a middle distance runner and ran the 1/2 mile, and the mile. Like all kids I was really excited about the prospect of a new pair of specialty shoes and couldn't wait to put on the spikes that I would be wearing on the track. Unfortunately for me I had flat feet and didn't know it which resulted foot pain and major blisters in the area of where my arch should have been.

After high school, knowing full well that I had flat feet, I was able to pass the medical exam and join the Marines. I was in the infantry in the Marines and the standard issue black boot made me and my flat feet miserable. Try a 20 mile force march with full gear in those boots with flat feet, it isn’t pretty.

Almost 20 years later and my feet have only got worse, now I'm dealing with Planar Fasciitis which gives me an excruciating pain in my left heel and arch. Its worse in the morning and after I've been sitting for a few hours and has been steadily bothering me for about 6 months now. It goes away once you start walking for a few minutes but hurts very much the next day after running, so I haven't been running at all and limit my aerobic activity to walking only.

I'll wear shoes for years until they're talking if you know what I mean. My wife on the other hand likes to change hers out before they start coming apart. A couple of days ago my wife and I went down to Fleet Feet in Santa Rosa to purchase some new shoes. The guy did a good job with the sales process and I walked out with a pair of the Nike Air Equalons, $130. Why am I telling you all this? For the last 3 days I have been running again and while there is a little pain it is nothing compared to what I would have expected.

Get yourself a good pair of shoes, your feet will thank you for it.
